Looking back at an incredible series of events
Over a period of six weeks, the UYG brought together more than 1600 children in 3 host cities: Molenbeek, Ghent and the Province of Liège. We offered 18 different sports including athletics, rowing, basketball, BMX, cycling, dance, football, frisbee, hockey, tree climbing, jiu-jitsu, judo, volleyball, rugby, running, skateboarding, tennis and table tennis. The introductions and various activities were supervised by sports federations, local clubs and numerous volunteers.
These live events were complemented by a six-week digital challenge to encourage youngsters to try new activities at school, with their friends and family.
This hybrid approach allowed us to share our values of respect, open-mindedness and honesty to a broader audience. Even under difficult circumstances, we were able to bring children together, inspire them and break down barriers while embracing the power of inclusion.
The smiling faces of the children, the gratitude of the teachers and the positive feedback of the different partners were indicative of the success of the 2021 series.
We are already looking forward to the road ahead, where we organise many events and reach even more children. Let’s spread the positive message of inclusion together.
